Friday 17th July- Windsurf * - The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny and hot.

It is nice to see the sunshine return to Felixstowe and I wasn’t expecting any wind, in fact the long-term wind forecast is not looking very promising either:( So after yesterdays bike ride we just had the morning at home, me doing my exercises while Mag did her garden and read. Then Robert posted on WhatsApp that he was heading down to The Manor as the breeze had increased. It was a good opportunity for me to give back his 6.5 sail which I have replaced a broken batten. I arrived first and was lucky to get a double-parking space fairly near the steps and was surprised by the strength of the wind, 17 mph and white water everywhere! So, I quickly set up my foil and rigged my 7m, Robert arrived as I was setting off and as usual the wind was dropping off. I wobbled off the beach sailed out with no flying turned and then had my only flying run back to the beach, steaming upwind and getting the feel of the new board. Then that was that, despite having several runs back and forth I didn’t get in the air again, I would have got up a bit if I had rigged my 8.5 but could not be bothered! Robert was now out on what looked like a different board which turned out to be a brand-new JP 120, and he even managed to get it into the air a few times with his 6.5. So not the best sail but a nice couple of hours on the sunny beach!
